International Steward recently launched a new publication series. This
foundational paper series is entitled Growing in the Grace of Giving.
Most often our focus of communication with you is about our workshops,
mentoring ministry and the dynamic ministry leaders who have taken bold
new steps through encouraging local stewardship…even in the most
economically desperate of settings. Yet, the cornerstone of this ministry
is the “curriculum”; the material that is taught during
our many hours training ministry leaders. This curriculum has sound
Biblical, historical, and philosophical roots which is what this series
succinctly addresses.
The first paper of this series titled A Great Omission: The Legacy of
Economic Dependence in the Modern Mission Era was recently published.
This brief but thorough overview describes the origin of the problem
that International Steward is addressing around the world.
Ben Ingebretson, author of this publication, is an Adjunct Instructor
for International Steward. A pastor in the Reformed Church of America,
Ben now serves as Director of Missions for the Denomination. Dr. Chuck
VanEngen, professor at Fuller Theological seminary offers the foreword
to this publication. Dr. VanEngen serves on the Advisory Council for
International Steward.
